4th Grade Play Day...

We had one of the funnest events I've ever been a part of at our elementary school recently: 4th Grade Play Day! Three different campuses met together to compete against each other in lots of fun events like jump rope contest, long jump, soccer ball kick, and of course all the different length of races. Each of the 3 schools had matching t-shirts and a set of bleachers where they waited for their event and cheered their classmates on while they waited. It was an absolutely beautiful spring day...a little windy, but nice and cool and sunny. Awesome. I took the day off work and volunteered - I'll take 5 hours of playing with a bunch of 4th graders over a 10+ hour workday any day!! Most importantly, my Tyler had a ball....and I got to see it. Made me a happy Mama!

Everyone is there and ready to start! Kids were chanting the names of their schools - getting ready to compete!!

Buddy Walkers - trickier than it looks!!!

Boys were watching the girls first - supporting them while they did their buddy walk

Tyler and his "buddy" getting ready to take off...
I think they came in 3rd (out of 3) - we will chalk it out to the fact that his buddy was a last minute change - the one he practiced with had to be moved to a different event. Yea, that's why they came in last! ha!
Muscle men getting ready for the 60km dash!
Our friend Kayla goes to one of the schools we were competing against...fun to have her and Kim there!
Go Kayla go!!
And Tyler is OFF - those long legs come in handy when you run...he came in 2nd.

Doing the Macarena in the stands...he didn't know his mama was watching him!
Buddies Zachary and Tyler show off their ribbons.
Sassy 4th grade teachers pose before their tug-of-war event. they are so cute!!
They pulled and pulled....and lost. Oh well, we love them for their brains, not their muscles!

Easter celebrations...

Easter is such an incredibly special time of celebration for our family. There's nothing more joyous in my book than celebrating what Jesus did for us...for ME...when He took the sin of the entire human race on his shoulders, paid the price with his life, and gave me the gift of eternal life with Him. Absolutely NOTHING better! Not even Christmas.

This year, my parents hatched a very fun plan for them and the boys. They came into town Thursday night and took the boys camping on Friday at Lake Whitney. They had a ball even though the wind was ROUGH and kept them from fishing successfully!

They came home Saturday afternoon and we enjoyed some time together. I had worship choir at the Saturday night service, then we had a fun dinner when I came home. The Easter bunny came to our house early....he left the boys each a large Easter egg with a clue in it that led them to their buckets. Pokemon cards were the big hit...well, chocolate bunnies too, but really cards were the hit.

Sunday was a GREAT day - I absolutely LOVED worshiping all day in the services at The Hills, then we all packed up and headed out to celebrate with Monica's in laws' family out in Cleburne. Easter is their annual family gathering for ALL the Heads. It's a huge family - 3 brothers who each have kids who each have kids....those kind of numbers multiply quickly! We have been a part of it before, and it is always such a blessing to be with them. I'm "Monica's sister" there, which is a very fun title for me to be known by - she is loved by all of them for sure! We love the Head family and are so thankful to call them our family as well. Their traditions at Easter are so very fun with a GIANT buffet of food, a GIANT Easter egg hunt and a GIANT prize table for the egg hunters. Oh, and don't forget the coveted money eggs that have coins in them instead of candy. Good stuff! Great weekend. Great celebrations! Thank you , Jesus....

This was a special "little kids" table that Annie made sure she, Brady and Spencer sat at together! Pardon the awkward looks on the dear's faces...they were busy stuffing them with good food.
See - that's a lot of pre-iced cups. You should have seen the desert table, the "sides" table, the meat selection and all the salads. Yummm.....
Nonny and PawPaw with all their grandkids! (Well, minus the who is growing in Moni's tummy currently!
I may be prejudiced, but I think these are some pretty handsome boys (could use haircuts, but they are cute!)
Spencer and Tyler are GREAT friends!
My littlest punkin'...he sure is getting grown up looking...

Aric and Spenc counting their eggs to see what the total was.

Nonny helped Annie count her eggs

And PawPaw helped Brady count his eggs....once he got his head out of the pillow case!
I don't know what it was about putting one's head in a pillow case.
Brady's prize - little chirping "cheap" bird with bunny ears on.
Colby got second place in the boys' category for number of eggs found
