And the "baby" keeps growing...

Birthday number #2 in our house is March 8th. Brady's birthday. Since his last birthday he has consistently been saying he wants to have a "dolphin party" when he turns 5. As we have been getting closer to his birthday he has still been talking about this dolphin party....and Donny and I were starting to brainstorm about how we could pull it off. We went as a family to the party supply store one day looking for dolphin party supplies...with NO luck. Yes, we could have ordered them on line but someone (me) had waited until the last minute to get things together for a party! As we walked down the aisle's at the party store, we came across the puppy dog section and the rest is history. Our Boo LOVES puppy dogs. Always has. He sleeps with about 15 stuffed ones on his bed at night, asks for a REAL dog all the time, and loves playing with anyone else's dog that he comes across. Forget dolphins - puppy dogs it is! (which made his parents so very happy...SO much more you can do with puppy dogs at a party!!).

The party was at our place the Saturday before his birthday. He invited school friends, church friends, and cousins. We had a GREAT time making puppy dog ears, a personalized collar, and a "doggy bag" to take all our party favors home in. Then we all went upstairs and played "Musical Puppy Dogs" (musical chairs) to "Who Let the Dogs Out", "Trainer Says" (Simon Says), and "Cat, Cat, Dog" (Duck duck goose).

His cake was a GIANT bone (yes, I made it). During the games we gave the "puppies" who got out of the game a doggy treat (cocoa pebbles) to console them. Brady's favorite part was opening his presents - so exciting for a 5 year old!!! Great party for our special little man. We love him to pieces!

Making doggy bags with stamps, markers and stickers on brown bags.
Cute little puppy dog ears!

The two champions of "Trainer Says"....they could not be beat!
And it was a tie between Kadi and Brady one time for "Musical Puppies"

Brady has a bunch of sweet little girls he enjoys playing with - Katie Moore and Cameryn O'Rear are two of them.

PRESENTS!!!

For family dinner Brady chose his Dad's infamous table cakes, eggs, bacon and sausage. Yumm!!

Little Boo - what a joy you bring to our family. You have a very special role...you make us laugh, you encourage us, you share your sweet thoughts that you have about the Lord with us. You want so badly to be as big as your brothers and love to be a leader in whatever way you can with your friends and our family. We are absolutely CRAZY about you!! The past 5 years have been my all time favorite 5 years because you have been in my life.

8 years old....

My Colby man is 8 years old now...hard to believe! He has always been my sports lover - from Day 1 he has been passionate about any and all sports. I think out of 8 birthday parties, all but three have been sports related...3 basketball parties, one football and one baseball.

They have all been such fun parties, but this one took the cake on the scale of "awesomeness"! We invited 6 of his closest buddies and took them with us to a TCU basketball game. The school has a very cool party package where you get tickets, t-shirts for the kids, an autographed TCU jersey for the bday boy, TCU sports posters, a bag and a TCU sticker (can we say marketing?). There is a practice court where the kids can play and have cupcakes which are provided. And the best part - all the boys got to walk out onto the court through the players tunnel and watch while Colby get to stand WITH the team while they were announced at the beginning of the game! Wow. We got a locker room tour after 1/2 time, which was pretty cool for the boys. Overall, it was, well... just "awesomeness"!!

Happy birthday, my sweet middle man. Words cannot express the joy you bring to me. You are smart, you are sweet, you are responsible....you love your brothers and make all of us want to be with you. You are the "glue" that bridges gaps between your older and younger brother...and they adore you. I love your sensitivity. I love the way you want to learn. I love the way you love the Lord and the way you remember Him in all you do. You are a delight, my sweet one. A pure delight! Happy 8th birthday!

Love,
Mom
